Saint-Ouen-des-Alleux, France  | 2025 – The d1-CD is a CD transport made to be an absolute reference in term of digital source, feeding a Totaldac DAC or any other DAC.

The d1-CD uses a today’s Austrian CD-PRO8 mechanism and inherits all the research that went into developing Totaldac DACs, reclockers and streamers:
oscillators, specific clock distribution, specific spdif generator, massive copper plate, anti-vibration feet, ground and earth distribution, electromagnetic and mechanical damping, live-power transformer, specific power supply filtering.

All the fine-tuning was done on Totaldac’s top-of-the-range system and also in comparison with a studio analogue master tape player.

The oscillator has an rms jitter of just 40 femtoseconds, a far from usual figure that goes some way to explaining the impression of instant dynamics.

The external live-power supply has much better galvanic isolation than the usual mains supplies, and the result can be seen in the noise spectrum when it powers a DAC, with the last little spurious lines unrelated to the mains frequency disappearing (spurious noise). This also has an audible effect on the CD transport, even though it only outputs the digital signal.
As the power supply is external, it also emits no mechanical vibrations or electro-magnetic waves on the CD mechanics, digital signals or oscillator.

The mechanics takes a solid copper plate as mechanical ground reference (the same as used in Totaldac DACs), then decoupled from the playback mechanics by 4 conical springs and 4 silicone rubber dampers.
The copper plate itself is isolated from the hi-fi rack by 3 anti-vibration feet with integrated ball bearings. The carbon intermediate plate and the cover are damped by ferrite rubber.

The d1-CD provides 2 digital outputs: coax RCA and XLR AES-EBU.
